Vessel Navigation

When Navigating a marine vessel in a project related environment, many times "precise navigation" is required for safety, efficiency, repeatability, accountability and to be systematic .  This can be achieved by providing the helmsman an interface displaying information such as: geo-referenced background images, user defined targets and center lines, a left/right indicator, vessel speed, vessel track, vessel heading, distance-to-go, time-to-go, visual links, user defined coordinate grids, cross track velocity, data recording.  By displaying these things to the helmsman he is able to know his location at any given time more precisely and thus is able to operate his vessel more safely.  Because these items also allow the helmsman to confidently know where he has been and where he is going;  he is more accountable, able to steer his vessel more systematically, able to rerun courses, and as a result, be more efficient.
